Needing a little inspiration for a DIY birthday present? Well I have just the thing. Hudson had a boys 4th birthday the other week. I wanted to give him something original something fun and I knew he was into super heros ( I mean what boy isn't?) so why not a personalized cape and shirt. This was so easy I bought the iron on letters from joann's. I cut out a lighting bolt applique out of felt and sewed that on. I bought a 1/2 yard of red nylon fabric. I cut the fabric into the shape of a cape sewed it added some pleats at the top and a couple pieces of velcro to the back of the shirt and the cape so he can take it off if he wants and Viola! A fun one of a kind personalized present.

Family beach day!
I love the beach! I feel so fortunate to have been brought up in a beach town and that we are able to raise our children in the beach community. So needless to say we are at the beach ALL the time. My dad brought the motor home down so we could relax and hang out all day it was wonderful.
Hudson's first bee sting... of course the day would not be complete with out some tears
a little sisterly love
walking up to the motor home and see this...boys will be boys
Kingsley my little snuggle love
Of course my child would lay out.
Mom & Dad you are the best grandparents... Boys you're loved

8 months!!!
I wish I could just freeze time every once in awhile and just stare at you taking in every feature, every cry, every look you make because it is all going by so fast and before I know it you will be going to college and getting married. Okay I got a little carried away, but that is how fast I feel this is going. You are still a baby, but barely. You are so eager to be able to do what your brother does you follow him around and play with every toy he plays with even the really small ones you could choke on, but don't even put them in your mouth it's like you know they are for playing with. I feel like you completely understand everything I tell you. Like your a little old soul. This month you have done so much: crawling like crazy, standing on everything and letting go, climbing, waving, giving high fives, saying momma & dadda (you say dadda all the time). You are very predictable and are becoming very fiesty if you want or don't like something you are sure to let us know!!! As I write this last line you are starting to cry in your crib so YES I am a softy and will go get you because I cant seem to let you cry it out. We love seeing grow and spending every minute with you. Happy 8 months:)

Maloof Money Cup
Today was the Maloof money cup (skateboard competition) at the OC Fair. It was a year ago today when my sister was practicing for that same competition where she fell going for a trick and tore her ACL and fractured her knee. She had to under go surgery and physical therapy and now a year later here we are. She was able to over come her fear of re-injuring her self and the fear of what if I'm not strong enough yet. I was so proud of her for the strength she has to face her fears. It takes a lot of courage to get on a skateboard and launch yourself down the handrails that these girls do and to stand up for women's skateboarding (they wanted to get rid of girls competitions all together). Lauren did well today she didn't place which I'm sure was a little disappointing for her, but she also did not give up which would have been a lot easier to justify.
